Zac Posen has some serious momentum this year. In addition to his always-anticipated efforts for Brooks Brothers and his eponymous lines, Posen also designed for Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding; outfitted Delta flight attendants in stylish new threads; and, even more recently, shared that he will serve as an executive producer for an ABC-developed fashion drama.

Suffice to say, the haute highlights don’t stop coming for the New York native, who touched down in Chicago last month for a runway presentation at Neiman Marcus Michigan Avenue. During the high-fashion affair, invitees previewed the Zac Posen Resort and Spring 2019 collections while enjoying an exclusive conversation between the designer and Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing. As Posen ramps up for what’s sure to be an exciting 2019 campaign, he shared his favorite moments of 2018, reflected on why he loves visiting Chicago, and more with Michigan Avenue.

What has been your personal highlight of 2018 thus far? What design, initiative, or industry development has excited you most?
ZAC POSEN: I’ve had so many exciting projects in 2018. I have finally launched my Delta uniform after a three-year-long process; continued to promote my cookbook, Cooking with Zac; but I have to say the highlight of my year was to dress the Princess on her special day.

What trends are you seeing emerge for fall and winter this season?
ZP: Tweeds and warm tones. But the best trend is always confidence. You will always look your best when you wear something that empowers you.

Are there any up-and-coming designers of whom you're particularly fond?
ZP: I really like Batsheva and Wales Bonner at the moment.

What do you enjoy about returning to Chicago? Are there any must-visit destinations when you are here?
ZP: I love Chicago and it’s always a pleasure to visit. The architecture, people, and food are all exceptional. I always try to stop by the Art Institute of Chicago as it is such an incredible museum.

What accomplishment as Creative Director of Womenswear for Brooks Brothers are you most proud of?
ZP: I am very proud of my tenure at Brooks Brothers; it has been such an amazing collaboration, and I have learned so much and cherish the work we have done together. I am especially honored to have been alongside [Brooks Brothers Group, Inc. President and CEO] Claudio Del Vecchio to celebrate the 200th anniversary of this iconic American brand this past year.
