On May 16, 2019, the Adler Planetarium Women's Board hosted the 17th annual Women in Space Science Award Celebration, recognizing the life and accomplishments of trailblazing women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. The luncheon honored Dr. Peggy Whitson, a biochemist and retired NASA astronaut who holds a world record in spaceflight. In addition, Meghan McCabe, a high school senior active in the Adler's Youth Leadership Council, was presented with the Adler Planetarium Women's Board Scholar Award.
