With interactive retail experiences, an in-house atelier and glass-enclosed luxury dining, the expansive new RH Oak Brook is drawing Chicago design lovers galore to the western suburbs.
Shop myriad furniture items, including the customizable leather Lugano sectional.
Acclaimed high-end home furnishings retailer RH recently debuted RH Oak Brook, The Gallery at Oakbrook Center, an experiential decor shopping center. The stunning 60,000-square-foot space sports a chic charcoal gray Venetian plaster exterior with an elegant expanse of glass-and-steel French doors. Guests pass through a 25-foot threshold of retractable glass to enter, continuing into a central hall with 14-foot soaring ceilings and barrel-vaulted passageways.
The great room features a grand staircase, chic chandeliers and a relaxing lounge area.
Inside, expansive areas with RH Interiors, RH Modern and RH Outdoor collections display artistic, experiential installations of luxe home furnishings in a gallery setting. Shop an integrated assortment of furnishings, lighting, textiles and decor—or visit the in-house design firm and atelier for a more personal touch—then head upstairs to wine and dine.
The glass-enclosed rooftop restaurant features retractable walls and is surrounded by exquisite furnishings available for purchase.
Enclosed in glass on the summit of a grand floating staircase, the RH Rooftop Restaurant sits in a skylit garden and serves up classic, ingredient-driven items like lobster rolls and truffle fries, while the curated wine bar boasts myriad worldly selections. (Insider tip: You can take your wine anywhere in the gallery, so grab a glass on arrival and sip while you shop.)
The RH Modern gallery offers the Italia collection of sofas and sectionals.
The expertly landscaped outdoor park, resplendent with intimate lounge spaces from the RH Outdoor collection, is expertly complemented by sparkling chandeliers, heritage olive trees, sculptural evergreens and trickling fountains that harken back to the great classical gardens of Europe.
The wine bar pours 60 wines total, with limited-production sips from Napa Valley’s most renowned vintners.
“Most retail stores are archaic windowless boxes that lack any sense of humanity. There’s generally no fresh air or natural light,” says RH Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman of the brand’s continued foray into hospitality. “That’s why we don’t build retail stores, we create inspiring spaces that blur the lines between residential and retail, indoors and outdoors, home and hospitality.” 1300 22nd St., Oak Brook, rh.com/oakbrook
