The Windy City’s top restaurants are ringing in 2025 with an array of indulgent dining experiences, from a 17-course omakase-inspired tasting menu to a fondue-filled fête. We’ve rounded up the best restaurants for New Year’s Eve—and some spots on our list are open on New Year’s Day, too.
300 W. Hubbard St. / Website
Tuscan eatery Coco Pazzo is celebrating New Year’s Eve with a lavish specialty menu stocked with indulgent a la carte dishes like osso bucco Milanese, Maine lobster-filled ravioli di aragosta, risotto ai funghi porcini and more. Restaurant-goers can top off their meal with budino di panettone for dessert, crafted with bourbon, bittersweet chocolate sauce and strawberries. Reservations can be made here.

Logan Square neighborhood eatery Daisies is offering a three-course, $75 New Year’s Eve menu presented by chef Joe Frillman, chef de cuisine Thomas Leonard and pastry chef Leigh Omilinsky. Diners can enjoy passed amuse-bouche, followed by the choice of two courses and a dessert selection, with vegetarian substitutions also available. Reservations can be made here.
Duck Sel, the fine-dining pop-up series from James Beard semifinalist chef Donald Young, is ringing in the new year with a 15-course dining experience featuring Champagne and a lively dinner party. The celebration will take place in the Uptown neighborhood, with 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. seating options. The exact location will remain under wraps until 24 to 48 hours before the event. This Lincoln Park cornerstone is inviting guests to a fondue-centric New Year’s Eve fest, complete with Swiss gruyere cheese, Belgian chocolate and entree fondues, plus accompanying proteins like beef tenderloin, lobster tails and more. Guests can choose from three seating options at 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., with complimentary party favors for attendees and a half-bottle of Champagne for diners at the final seating. This chic Eastern European vodka and caviar bar is toasting to 2025 with its Good Luck New Year’s Eve prix fixe meal. Guests can enjoy a $100 five-course tasting menu and $75 optional beverage pairings from 4 to 11 p.m., in addition to the spot’s regular happy hour and casual menus. “We designed our tasting menu around foods that both inspire good luck and focus our intentions for the new year,” says chef Guy Meikle. “At Heritage, we embrace all the cultures and traditions represented by our team, combine them with beloved foods and dishes from our past, and forge a new tradition together. Visit Michelin-starred fine dining destination Indienne on New Year’s Eve to indulge in the restaurant’s $190 seven-course vegetarian and non-vegetarian tasting menus with optional $110 wine pairings curated by head sommelier Tia Polite. On New Year’s Eve, Fulton Market Mediterranean restaurant Lyra is serving a four-course prix fixe menu with specialty dishes like charred octopus, Maine lobster linguini, charcoal grilled lamb chops, wagyu beef souvlaki and more. Ring in New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at Lettuce Entertain You’s luxe Japanese dining destination, Miru, which is located in The St. Regis Chicago. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 31, the eatery is celebrating with a live DJ, late-night snacks, a midnight toast with fireworks over the Chicago River, Japanese-inspired canapés, interactive food stations and an open bar with wine, beer and specialty cocktails. Guests can also join for a New Year’s brunch on Jan. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., complete with a live-action sushi station, a beef carving station, Japanese fare and brunch specialties like cinnamon French toast, made-to-order eggs, pain au chocolat, sweet treats, confections, freshly squeezed juices and mimosa bottle service. Start the new year off with a bang at the Peninsula Chicago New Year’s Eve Gala hosted at The Lobby. The evening kicks off with a celebratory Champagne toast at 6:30 p.m., followed by a five-course prix fixe dinner. The event is accompanied by live music from a solo pianist from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., a performance from a dinner trio from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. and tunes from 7-piece band BeatMix from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Visitors can also toast to 2025 at Z Bar’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., featuring an open bar, passed bites, party favors and access to the Champagne and chocolate truffle room. Countdown to 2025 at Pizzeria Portofino’s riverfront New Year’s Eve party, featuring signature drinks, appetizers and live DJ beats from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Choose from general admission tickets, which include passed appetizers, assorted pizzas and unlimited signature cocktails ($145 per person plus tax, gratuity not included), or opt for VIP booths or riverfront table seating for parties of four to eight guests, which includes a designated server, access to the full menu and bottle service (starting at $1,000 plus tax, gratuity not included). The Lettuce Entertain You restaurant is also hosting its lavish Third Annual Ballin’ Beach Brunch on New Year’s Day from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., complete with brunch fare, mimosas, a DIY espresso martini bar and more. Lettuce Entertain You joint RPM Seafood is honoring the occasion with its exclusive Sommelier Experience, a curated New Year’s Eve dinner featuring foie gras, caviar, lobster, oysters and more, with a limited selection of Tête de Cuvée Champagne, White Burgundy and other aged wines from the restaurant’s cellar. The Michelin-starred establishment is also offering a $100 enhancement, complete with exclusive caviar and truffle nigiri additions and a complimentary Champagne toast to ring in the new year. Visit Terrace 16 on New Year’s Eve to partake in a luxe dining event featuring skyline views, live strolling violinist entertainment and an indulgent four-course menu, with seating options at 6 and 9 p.m. For $295 per person, guests can dine on favorites like smoked lobster bisque, red forest salad, basil-crusted short rib and salted vanilla ice cream as they sip a glass of Champagne. The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago’s high-end Italian eatery Torali is ending (and beginning) the year on a high note with its signature New Year’s Eve dinner, followed by a New Year’s Day brunch on Jan. 1 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dig into a five-course, prix fixe meal with offerings like king crab, duck leg, anelletti al forno, crab with halibut and truffle-topped wagyu as you count down to 2025.
