Beloved Gold Coast bridal and custom design boutique Mira Couture’s just-dropped collection proves the label is an arbiter of style beyond the aisle.

Beginning in 1970 as a custom fashion house on the North Shore (most notably with a long-standing Glenview atelier), Mira Couture has since become a nationally distinguished brand—and a cornerstone of Chicago’s bridal industry. And with the release of its glamorous 2023 collection, Mira Couture looks toward a fruitful future built on boundary-pushing in-house designs.

Known best for its dreamy custom bridal creations and vast selection of top designers including Anne Barge and Vera Wang, Mira’s latest looks are unlike anything the brand has previously released.

Featuring an eclectic array of chic gowns, elegant cocktail dresses and eye-catching jumpsuits, the new styles showcase bold design choices and experimentation with fabrics and patterns, all of which Mira’s owner and designer Julie Mersine says bring a “uniqueness and freshness” to the table. Sophisticated, architectural designs such as a pleated velvet metallic gown with a sweetheart neckline and classic, feminine styles like a beaded white wrap dress finished off with a statement bow comprise the collection that offers an essence of elegance and craftsmanship that’s been mastered over the years.

Matching the exuberance and versatility of the latest looks, Mira’s designers played with a range of striking fabrics. “To say our collection of fabrics in-house is extensive is a major understatement,” Mersine says. “I get a lot of inspiration for designs from fabrics I find. Each has its own vibe, [so] when I see it, it calls for a certain cut, style, silhouette and detail.”

Even as the brand continues to expand its offerings beyond the classic gowns, each eveningwear design exudes the beloved Mira touch. “I think [when] most people design, what you create just pours out of you,” Mersine concludes. “Of course, you can refine and perfect your craft, but your style, creativity and artistic vision comes within you and is authentically you.” 70 E.
