Spanish luxury fashion house LOEWE has officially arrived in one of Chicago’s most prestigious shopping districts, with a new two-floor storefront on Oak Street. The 2,594-square-foot boutique carries women’s ready-to-wear garments, handbags, leather goods, shoes, sunglasses, accessories and a curated collection of artwork.
Located in a circa-1890s building at 51 E. Oak St., the retail space brings creative director Jonathan Anderson’s CASA LOEWE retail concept to life. It incorporates sculpture, handcrafted objects and furniture curated to evoke an art collector’s home.
As guests enter the store, they are greeted by concrete, marble and oak wood accents and a rich color palette of cobalt and chocolate hues.
The boutique is furnished with geometric Utrecht armchairs, wood and felt Berin chairs, a black terrazzo table, a tufted leather bench, iron martini tables, ceramic vessels and a lamp designed by legendary artist, furniture designer and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi.
Four custom handwoven wool carpets replicate British textile artist John Allen’s rural landscapes, Peveril of The Peak Brighter and The River Reaches The Sea.
The storefront is also adorned with hand-selected works from the brand’s global art collection. These include British artist Lorna Robertson’s abstract oil painting Courtyard, Los Angeles-based multimedia artist Richard Hawkins’ work Little Girl Inside and artist Altoon Sultan’s compositions Dark Corner and Lines and Loop, each of which are crafted with a fast-drying egg tempera on calfskin.
