The Ukrainian Village’s burgeoning art scene now boasts a new destination: imnotArt, Chicago’s first NFT gallery. The intriguing institution offers a hot new take on traditional viewing experiences, inviting NFT fanatics into a contemporary physical space with roots in the Ethereum metaverse. Eleven digital displays are hosted at a time, adorning the walls with bold animated artwork from artists such as Sinclair and ProbCause. Each piece is accompanied by a unique QR code that leads to an informational profile and an auction link where guests can bid on Ethereum-based NFTs for their own collection.

Patrons can also visit the collection digitally through the Cryptovoxels metaverse, a virtual world that recreates an exact replica of the physical gallery in 3D voxel graphics. This hybrid novelty has made imnotArt a go-to location for virtual artwork, with a gallery that has already exhibited over 300 artists from around the globe. “We have bridged the gap between physical and digital art mediums [in a way] that is approachable for the traditional art world, but still excites our digitally native creators,” says co-founder Matt Schapiro. “We’re excited for the future and are planning exhibitions with many prominent artists in the space.” 1010 N.
