Inside of the hotel, the lobby has been transformed into a summer boathouse. The central focus is the lobby bar, which has been converted into a bright blue lifeguard stand and is decked in adorable twinkling lights and coastal touches. The space offers a variety of seasonal activities, including the Midwestern favorite, cornhole.
“No one does the summer season like Chicago. Warm weather transforms the city from great to one of the world’s greatest. This year we are thrilled to offer the ultimate city refuge with the transformation of our lobby into The Lake House. A place for locals and tourists to enjoy a glimpse of what Chicago summer truly means,” says Clay Spencer, General Manager of Fairmont Chicago.
The jovial summer theme continues to the hotel’s menus. The boathouse features an exceptional seasonal menu, including classics such as fried calamari, easy peel shrimp boil, pork ribs, beef brisket, and an impressive seafood platter. For dessert, delve into a tasty, nostalgia-inducing milkshake.
The Lake House, while in the middle of the cityscape, boasts the thrill of summer adventure. Its close proximity to Lake Michigan gives the unique opportunity to admire one of the world’s tallest skylines through “personalized luxury yacht tours,” which include seasonal menus and cocktails, according to the hotel’s press release.
Their programming includes the unique Fairmont Summer Market. One of the highlights of the summer season is enjoying outdoor markets on warm days. The Lake House brings this experience to life with unique art, clothing, and crafts in their own booth-style summer market.
Chicago boasts spectacular Fourth of July celebrations each year, and the Lake House will be no different. Food and drinks will be served, along with family-friendly activities and a great view of the city’s tremendous fireworks display.
Combining the opportunities of the city and the atmosphere of summer lake life, Fairmont Chicago is offering Drag Me to the Fairmont. On Saturday, June18, the Lake House will feature performances from a handful of drag queens, including Lady Bunny and Amalia Black. Seasonal appetizers and drinks will be served in tandem with VIP reception for early attendees.
The Lake House invites everyone to experience the heart of Chicago at its warmest and brightest. Open from 4:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. daily, Fairmont Chicago’s new summer getaway is bringing easy-going summer life to the big city.
